Spread Holiday Cheer

Adopt a Parent for the Holiday Project?

Did you know that 24% of adults diagnosed with cancer parent children under the age of 18? Can you imagine the stress of trying to provide Christmas gifts for your children with a budget that’s stretched to its maximum paying for medication, co-payments for doctor visits and basic living expenses like food, rent and utilities? The staff and volunteers of the SisterHermana Foundation Inc., know the difficulty firsthand and created the Adopt a Parent for the Holiday Program to provide opportunities for the community to stand and say I am my brother and my sister’s keeper and relieve them of the financial burden of Christmas by donating toys, clothes, books and games to make Christmas special. We believe no one in a health crisis should have to stand in line to provide gifts for their children. What’s more exciting sponsors have the option of delivering gifts with us and witnessing the impact of their generosity thus providing immediate gratification.

How are families identified?

Families were refered through hospitals, doctors offices and treatment centers.

What is the criteria to become a sponsor?

Any individual, business or group who is interested in spreading yule tide cheer can be a sponsor! Participating in the Adopt a Parent for the Holiday is a great way for an organization, company, faith congregation, community club, or any type of group to come together and support the cancer community during the holiday season.
